American Crow Images (Corvus brachyrhynchos)
Information; Cornell’s page on Crows
Identification; the most difficult aspect of Id’ing a crow is perhaps it may be a raven. Here is an example of a raven photo I took at Yellowstone national park. The caw is a definite sign your looking at a crow. The female has exactly the same plumage and thus is difficult to differentiate between sexes. In flight they commonly harass larger bird species like eagles and red-tailed hawks. In flight the common method of ID is looking at the tail the ravens is notched with a very visible V while the crows is square.
